"Excuse me, did you want that?" kieran looked from the untouched coffee on his table to the small pretty little waitress who had adressed him. he blinked, staring at her blankly with tired brown eyes. The passed few days had been brutally hard, having spent most of them trying to keep the pack in check and working his, excuse the lanugage, bollocks off. it had been tiring, the rest of the pack had been growing restless, the knowledge of what the galloways were up to made it hard for them to sit tight and easy while the vampires went on betraying the cullens like they did. so far, kieran had managed to keep out of the whole ordeal. afterall, he was only somewhat aware of the trouble brewing, and as far as he was concerned, it was black's business, seeing as it was him who was so dedicated the bloodsuckers. it made kieran sick to see him so dedicated to people like the cullens, they were fowl because of what they were, and personality wise he didn't have strong opinions of them either. all round, he couldn't see a reason to protect them, until now. jacob seemed to be having more of an influence in the pack, and while he was nowhere near accepted into their tight little family, he did seem to be becoming a nagging presence. and ever easily influenced, the rest of the boys had been becoming more and more open to the idea of trying to help the cullens out, and when the pack grew restless, trouble normally followed. and that was something kieran just couldn't risk, not with so many humans around who could easily get hurt, and so the passed few days he'd been forced to intervene, doing all he could to convince the cullens of the galloways true nature. he'd even met with the covens leader, carlisle in private. withstanding the smell long enough to talk to him had been a great feat, and kieran couldn't help but feel that it had gone completely unappreciated by almost everyone who he was trying to help, which in itself was something he never did. it wasn't a satisfying feeling in the slighest.
And so, with all this in mind, Kieran had decided now was the time to retire into what he liked to label as 'me time'. He'd escaped the confines of the pack's house, and had kept away from anything that smelt vaguely familiar to a vampire and spent the passed day getting back in touch with himself, spending time searching the woods in wolf form, turning over every log and leaf, getting back in touch with the nature which he had completely forgotten all about in the chaos of the cullens arrival. for a few hours, there had been silence, peace and himself. there was no jacob, no mind boggling problems and trouble that made simply living a massive task and best of all, there were no vampires. just the nature around him, open and unadulteratedly beautiful. it had been refreshing, but hadn't helped his tired state. he felt drawn and worn out, like the familiar elastic band feeling he got now on a more regular basis. he felt strained, and tense, constantly on edge and aware of everything that was happening around him. so much so, that he found himself zoning out more than usual. now, being one of the exact moments in which he did so. The waitress looked back at him with a questioning look, and it took a moment for kieran to catch on that she was talking to him. "Excuse me mister, i asked if you'd finished...?" He waved a hand a little in front of his face, which caused kieran to shake his head a little, his brown shaggy hair moving slightly as he did so. "Err..." He looked up at her, causing the waitress to giggle gently. He smiled then, lightly; so much so that it was barely noticable. The waitress smiled back, and moving her hand she went to take the mug of untouched coffee. At the same time kieran moved to take it aswell, and for a breif moment their hands connected against each other. she frowned, no doubtedly at the heat of his skin. Kieran grumbled a little, his smile now completely gone as he pulled the mug towards him. "No, I'm not done thanks." his tone was sharp, and dark. the waitress immeadiatly know that she was unwelcome at the table, and moving away quickly she left kieran to himself.
When she was gone, he sighed, letting the mug out of his death grip. he didn't know why, but all of a sudden thoughts of grace came to his mind. perhaps it was the fact he was in the cafe that she spent so much time in, or ran too should they ever fight. but he thought of her, and for a moment he was sure that he could smell her flowery perfume, light and fresh in his nostrils but painful in his heart. words werent enough to express just how much he missed her, and every year that passed since her death seven years ago, his soul got a little bit more closed off from the world and the people in it. yet, even though he had become slowly more retiring as life went on, he couldn't shake the feeling that ireland was his home, and that he needed to protect the people in it from any threat out there. this was the reason he was trying to help the cullens. they faced something bigger than all of them, something called the volturi that, while he didn't completely understand the semantics of, he understood that they were ruthless and not afraid to kill. kieran would be seen dead before he would allow something like that to happen to his pack and the people they protected. after all, it wasn't just his obligation to the town, but to grace aswell. she would have wanted him to protect them, being the generous and loving person she was...kierans heart ached, and gritted his teeth he tried to push the feeling away. he grumbled a little, scanning the small cafe with tired brown eyes. he couldnt help but hate the cullens for bringing troubles to his town, most of all he hated them for bringing their baggage over. baggage named jacob black. all in all, he wasn't their biggest fans. "stop thinking about them kieran." he grumbled at himself, sitting back in his chair with a sigh. rolling his eyes, he pushed a hand through his hair, looking around once more. a bell above the door jingled as someone entered, and looking across, kieran narrowed his eyes. it was a cullen.
